1860 National Rifle Association (NRA) Bronze Medallion by George G (Gammon) Adams (1821-1898)

 

Measuring 54mm x 5mm in excellent condition for its age.

 

On the front an Archer 1300-1500 a Rifleman 1860 and the inscription Sit Perpetuum and signed G.G. ADAMS.

 

George G Adams medallist, artist and sculptor studied at The Royal Academy Schools in the 1840s before moving to Rome to study with John Gibson.

His medallions for the prize winners at the Great Exhibition in 1851 were received with great acclaim and in 1852 he was selected to model the death mask of the Duke of Wellington.
